In plain words: MiSTer Connect is a remote control for hardware you own. Use it sensibly, remember it can change settings and reboot your MiSTer, and know that it's an unofficial hobby project provided as-is. Connect Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Apple or Google.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Dev Cells ("we", "us"), the developer of the MiSTer Connect app for iOS and Android ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
MiSTer Connect is a remote-control companion for the MiSTer FPGA platform. It requires a MiSTer device that you own or are authorized to control, running the open-source Remote service from the mrext project, reachable on your local network.
MiSTer Connect is an unofficial app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the MiSTer FPGA project, the mrext project, or any console or game publisher. The app does not include, download, or provide games, ROMs, cores, or any copyrighted game content.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the rules of the App Store or Google Play from which you obtained it. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the app, except where such restrictions are prohibited by law.
The app can perform real actions on your MiSTer device, including launching games, editing configuration files such as MiSTer.ini, managing wallpapers, music and scripts, deleting screenshots, restarting services, and rebooting the device. You are solely responsible for:
Some features (such as the Live Activity mini-remote, box art, additional themes, and multiple saved devices) are unlocked by Connect Pro, a one-time, non-subscription in-app purchase.
The optional box art feature displays cover images from the public libretro-thumbnails service. This content is provided by a third party; we do not control its availability or accuracy, and all artwork and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Purchase validation is provided by RevenueCat. Third-party services may change or become unavailable at any time.
You agree not to use the app to access or control devices you are not authorized to control, to interfere with networks or systems belonging to others, or for any unlawful purpose.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every MiSTer setup, network configuration, or version of the Remote service. Nothing in this section limits warranties that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dev Cells shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, save games, configurations, or hardware issues arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim related to the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for it in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them. If you obtained it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for providing support for it.
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may terminate this license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 4, 6, 8, 9, and 12 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when adding new features. The current version will always be available at this page, with the effective date shown at the top. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
